About me:
Help me with my bio!
I’m working on an informal bio to accompany this project. Any suggestions?
I'm a scholar in residence at the Center for Research in the Humanities at The New York Public Library, exploring and writing about the intersections of sex work, fashion, and culture. You don't need to lead a whore to culture -- we're always already there!
I have over three decades of experience in the sex industry, working as a stripper, call girl, dominatrix, centerfold, and more. I'm the author of The Burlesque Handbook and Fierce: The History of Leopard Print. Founder of Sex Worker Style, with essays in many other books, most recently Lizzie Borden's anthology Whorephobia: Strippers on Art, Work, and Life. I'm currently in NYC and the Hudson Valley, but willing to travel to talk your ear off about burlesque, leopard print, g-strings, boob jobs, tan lines, stiletto heels, and red umbrellas.
The photo of me in a latex dress in my profile was taken during a fetish film/video shoot with Maria Beatty/Bleu Productions, 2004.
