Big Birthday Announcement!
WHat I wORE to work opens in September!
My decade of sex work and my years of fashion history research come together in my first-ever one-woman show! I’m terrified and excited and I’m not ready and I can’t wait!
My good friend Chip of Spin Cycle, a longtime cabaret and drag promoter in NYC, had been listening to me talk about developing this show since before the pandemic, and had had a few false starts before I could commit. Then I few months ago he called me and said, “I booked the dates!” When a friend has that much confidence in you, you get a move on!
The name of my project is Dressed Like A Whore, but with all the censorship and shadow-banning I knew I’d have to capitulate if I wanted to reach anyone in additional to my inner circle. Chip came up with “What I Wore to Work” and I couldn’t resist highlighting the whore within the title. And here we go!
I hope you’ll come! If you can’t make it, my dearest wish for my birthday is that you can let anyone you think might be interested know that it’s happening. This is a big move for me, and a sign of a major change in my performance career. I hope to do justice to the talents of all the people I talk about in my show, and to my own dreams of expanding everyone’s understanding of SW contributions to culture everywhere.
And I promise it will be FUN!
Eeeeeeekkkkkk!
